The hallmark of the stories produced by the young filmmakers of Kids in the Spotlight is the
realistic and honest portrayal of various social ills. Often it is because these filmmakers have
firsthand experience. Human Trafficking is one such issue.
January is Human Trafficking Awareness
Month and KITS is offering an opportunity
to screen two of its award-winning films that
address the plight of foster youth who are
especially targeted.
“Saving Dalenzi” is the dramatic tale of a
teenage girl who is snatched off the streets
for sex trafficking and the daring rescue by a group of girls. And “Trapped Within” follows
the story of a foster teen kidnapped by her mother’s pimp.
It is estimated that up to 40.3 million people around the world are being trafficked, and sex
trafficking is one of the world’s fastest growing criminal industries.
Kids in the Spotlight urges everyone to join the effort to raise awareness and prevent
trafficking in your community: IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING
